                                         Envirothon
The State Envirothon program is a hands - on, natural resources competition
for high school students.  The Idaho Association of Soil Conservation Districts use their
conservation partnerships and bring in environmental scientists and experts to teach
young men and women the vital balance of conservation and land usage.  The competition
is centered on four testing categories: soils/land use, aquatic ecology, forestry and wildlife
and a current environmental issue.  This kind of competition takes vigorous preparation.
At State the team will listen to a 45 minute presentation on each of the four topics, then
the group will work together to complete five tests, and also be given four hours to prepare
an eight minute presentation on the current environmental issue.  The team who places first
will go on to compete at the national level, where they will be up against 55 teams from the
         United States
